Community Hero Captain George Gardiner Wins 2-Night Staycation at The Beach Club

Richard Todd surprises Charleston Fire Department Captain George Gardiner with a 2-night staycation at The Beach Club at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina after he was nominated as a hometown hero!  Listen to why he was nominated and all that he has done and continues to do to make a difference in his community!

Here’s what his neighbor, Melody had to say:

“I am nominating Charleston Fire Department Captain George Gardiner. He is currently assigned to Ladder 101, Operations, and Peer Support where he also serves as the cook. When not at work, he volunteers for the St Paul Fire Department as a first responder. And yet he somehow manages to mow for free all his neighbors’ yards and 2 business here in Ravenel. When you try to pay him, he just shrugs his shoulders and says he’s just being neighborly. He also feeds all the feral animals in the area at his own expense. He jumps in without being asked anytime his community needs help, whether chopping wood for the elderly or taking garbage to the dump. He’s an extremely cheerful and caring person who follows up with the people who’s lives he’s saved or has certainly made better. For all these reasons, I believe he should be considered a community hero.”
